Week of Prayer: Day 4

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—  for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Timothy 2:1-2

This week we are focusing on intentional prayer for the trafficking industry. We believe that praying for justice is vital for ending trafficking and sexual exploitation. For this week of prayer, we will be focusing each day on different parts of the trafficking industry and the cultural climate of sexual exploitation and praying specific, bold prayers for each aspect.

Hey God,

Thank you for your divine wisdom. Thank you for guiding our steps and for placing us exactly where we need to be. In our pride we often try to think that we know better, but we thank you for your superior perspective and knowledge. Father, today we pray for our world leaders, law enforcement, and government officials. In the middle of our shaky political climate, we pray that you would equip our leaders to make decisions that honor you. We pray that you protect them physically, mentally, and spiritually so that they may endure the hard work of running a country. We ask that you help the people in these positions to live honorable lives. Lord, we ask that you help leaders to pursue justice for trafficking victims and that they would not be drawn into sin and become complacent in the face of this injustice. We pray against the attacks of the enemy on our government and law enforcement. We know they have the potential to be kingdom-shakers for you, so Father we pray that you would make that truth. We ask that you bring those in these positions who are aiding in the trafficking of women and children into the light – that they would no longer be able to operate in darkness. Restore our justice system to what you intended it to be. God, help us continue to pass legislation to prosecute traffickers more harshly and protect victims more effectively, giving them the resources they need. And Lord, we seek your help in being a culture that supports our leaders and encourage them to do the right thing rather than tear them down personally. We know you have a time and a season for everything, so help us to fight for your kingdom with our government and law enforcement rather than against them. We praise you for your guidance and for bringing healing to our world.

 Amen.
